  • Member, Board of Directors, Macarthur Park Homes Association. (2001-2004). Macarthur Park is the 45-unit complex where I lived.
  • Member, Board of Directors (1984-1986, 1989-2002) and President (1994-1995), Housing and Development Law Institute.  HDLI is a nationwide non-profit organization that acts as a legal resource to local housing authorities and their legal counsel.
  • Assistant Scoutmaster, Troop 233, Bethesda, Maryland (1993-1995).
  • Chairman, Housing Authority of Kansas City, Missouri (1981-1986).  Responsible for substantial improvement at Kansas City, Missouri Housing Authority:  Conceived and carried out strategy for revitalizing Wayne Miner Public Housing project in Kansas City, Missouri (including renovation, partial demolition and reconstruction of buildings); reorganized Board of Commissioners; hired three executive directors; reduced rent delinquency; improved management and maintenance of properties; increased budget from $5,000,000 per year to $15,000,000 per year.
  • Member, Board of Directors (1974-1986) and Co-Chairman, Capital Fund Drive (1978-1985) for George Washington Carver Neighborhood Center.  Raised $750,000 for construction of day care center.
